Hindemith Nobilissima visione, Concert Suite from Saint Francis
Ravel Boléro

Maestro Stern, our chorus and guest violinist Jennifer Koh weave a tapestry of ecstatic sounds, both sacred and profane, in these concerts. Grammy®-winning contemporary American composer Jennifer Higdon has written a unique cycle of love songs for violin, chorus and orchestra on the poems of Jeanne Minahan. Paul Hindemith's ballet, Nobilissima visione, tells the story of St. Francis of Assisi. Debussy's Prélude is one of the most erotic instrumental works ever written, and Ravel's Boléro is an exercise in ecstatic obsession with the dance. It all makes for a hot evening in the Lyric Theatre.

Sponsored in part by Santee Floral Designs.
The Classical Series is sponsored by the Muriel McBrien Kauffman Foundation.
